Dustin Blankenship

Partnerships are so important in helping meet needs of our veterans!  The wish that was granted for Army Combat Veteran Dustin Blankenship at the 2024 Shamrock the Rose event had a wonderful triple partnership with Blackard Tree Service, FireHouse Roofing Co. & The Collective Real Estate Group!

A Broken Arrow veteran, Dustin Blankenship, has been battling cancer for the last three years and has had multiple bone marrow transplants.

He just found out that his cancer came back again after doing treatment that he just finished one month ago.
“All my blood counts are getting pretty low again. So it makes you feel pretty lethargic,” said Blankenship.

Blankenship served in the Oklahoma Guard and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 with boots on the ground.

He is a father of one son and a husband.

Blankenship said he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia back on July 5th, 2021. Over the years, he started to receive treatment in Tulsa at St. Johns, then went to Oklahoma City, and now his family is awaiting a fourth transplant in a place where they specifically focus on cancer.

That hospital is called MD Anderson.

Through the partnership with the three groups and Soldiers Wish, they were able to grant the Blankenship family $3000 for travel expenses during his treatments.

Thank you NewsChannel 8 – Tulsa for capturing his story!
